Numb Bhera Vocational Center (NBVC) is in the process of getting formal accreditation for its Stitching and IT Center from the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) in accordance with their comprehensive procedure. A thorough evaluation visit over three days was conducted in August 2025, which successfully graded the NBVC for accreditation. Below are details of how we fulfilled the quality standards across NAVTTC's main performance areas.
Performance Area A - Governance and Management
Purpose: The core objective of NBVC is to teach talented local youth dress design and sewing. After completion, outstanding seamstresses are rewarded with sewing machines to jumpstart their entrepreneurial careers, and the center provides specialized workspaces for uniform stitching to ensure local livelihood.
Organizational Structure: The center operates under a structured governance model:
- Trustee Council
- Institute Management Committee (IMC)
- Principal (Mrs. Novaira Najeeb)
- Teachers (Mrs. Abida Nazar, Tailor Master Muhammad Gulzeb)
- Sewing Experts & Tailor Masters
Members of the IMC: The committee is chaired by Maj Gen (Retd) Syed Najeeb Ahmed, with Mrs. Novaira Najeeb as Vice Chairman, Mr. Syed Oneeb Ahmed as General Secretary, and community educationists and notables Mr. Anees Abbasi, Mr. Chaudhry Tariq Mahmood, and Mr. Chaudhry Ishrat Mahmood overseeing operations.
Financial Management & Auditing: The center is run on a non-profit basis by the Numb Rohi Welfare Society, registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860. Funding is handled carefully, incorporating NAVTTC subsidies. Standard annual financial audits are conducted by Nasir Absar & Co, Islamabad.
Digital Support System: To maintain premium training standards:
- 11 security and supervision cameras are installed.
- Face recognition and biometric systems track attendance.
- 40 desktop computer systems are installed for student training.
- 20 Mbps high-speed optical fiber internet powers the IT Center.
Performance Area B - Physical Environment
Stitching Department Equipment: NBVC houses 41 computerized sewing machines, 2 over-lock machines, and 1 button hole sewing machine distributed across two spacious labs. An optimal student-to-machine ratio of 1.25 allows ample practical time for drafting, cutting, and stitching.
IT Department Equipment: Two large IT training labs are equipped with 41 computers and modular desks. barani Institute of Information Technology (BIIT) assists in training management.
Safety & Maintenance: Fire extinguishers are installed throughout the center, and students undergo regular safety drills. A fully equipped first-aid station is available. Professional periodic maintenance of tailoring machines is performed by technicians from Koh-e-Noor Textile Mills.
Amenities: The facility offers natural spring drinking water, dedicated washrooms, an outdoor social lawn (20x20 ft) for students, and staff-only rooms on the first floor.
Performance Area C - Program Management
Trainer Allocation: Stitching classes are conducted by Mrs. Abida Nazar. IT training is managed by Mr. Muhammad Aamir (BS Software Engineering). A contingency plan assigns replacement teacher Ms. Zahida in case of emergencies.
Curriculum & Practical Balance: Courses are strictly conducted on the Competency-Based Training & Assessment (CBTA) framework. We focus heavily on practical application: every stitching student designs and finishes 6–7 dresses of varying sizes (ladies, kids, and menswear) to secure complete vocational independence.
